Carousel: Challenges

What this page is

Carousel: Challenges is a dashboard tile for running the challenge list during a stream: start and pause the countdowns, correct the numbers, mark things done and add a line of your own. Add it from the dashboard while editing — Edit → Add module → pick it from the list. The list itself, and how it behaves, are set on the Challenges page.

How to set it up

  1. The tile fills itself as soon as the challenges module is running — there is nothing to switch on and no gear on the header, because it has no settings of its own.
  2. The line across the top counts the list: In the list, running and done.
  3. Each row shows the name, what kind of counter it is underneath — counter, timer or percent — and the number on the right in a field you can type over. A row whose countdown has finished adds time is up next to the kind.
  4. A timer row has a play button; while it counts down the button becomes pause. Rows of counter and percent have no button — they are numbers, not clocks.
  5. Correcting a number is done in the field, in the form it is shown: "5:30" on a timer is five and a half minutes, "20%" on a percent row is twenty. Click away and it is stored.
  6. The tick at the end of the row marks the challenge done. The row leaves the list and is filed under Done on the Challenges page.
  7. The strip at the bottom adds a line by hand: the name, then the amount, then the unit — x for times, min for minutes, % for percent — and the + button. A name that already exists grows instead of making a second line.
  8. Before anything has arrived the tile reads "Nothing yet — cards that come up will show here".
  9. A refusal appears as a red strip along the bottom of the tile for a few seconds, with the reason on it.
