Connecting a donation service
Donation services connect under Connections → Monetization: DonationAlerts, DonatePay, Streamlabs and StreamElements. Only DonationAlerts and DonatePay come with the app — Streamlabs and StreamElements have to be installed from Module Catalog → Add-ons first, or they will not appear in the list.
Twitch Bits and YouTube Super Chat also count as donations, and they are set up on their platform's own page, not under Monetization.
Setting up a service
The module has to be on and the token entered. With an empty token the service just waits, showing "disconnected". DonationAlerts is the exception — it signs in through the browser with a button, no token to paste.
DonatePay has its own "Accept donations" switch. With it off, nothing connects at all.
Currency and conversion
The base currency is set once for the whole app in Settings → Localization, and it is USD by default. Conversion is done by the Currency Rates module.
If Currency Rates is off, amounts are counted as they arrived, without conversion. A 1000 KZT donation adds 1000 to a goal set in dollars. Localization shows a hint saying exactly this while the module is off. Turn it on — it comes with the app.
Even with it on, a pair with no known rate stays unconverted. The two usual cases:
- Bits. A rate for BITS does not appear by itself — it has to be entered by hand in the Currency Rates table. Until then bits are not converted.
- An unrecognised Super Chat currency from YouTube.
How an alert shows the amount
Alerts display the amount and currency exactly as the platform sent them, while the minimum-amount threshold is compared in the base currency. So an alert can read "1000 KZT" on a dollar-based setup. The same is true of the Donations tile on the control panel.
Changing the base currency later
Statistics stores fixed numbers, so changing the base currency does not rewrite history. The app notices and offers a Convert button — on the Statistics page and on Localization. Amounts it cannot convert (bits with no rate, for example) are reported as skipped rather than guessed.
What is not possible
The fundraising overlay shows no currency at all — just the numbers. There is no way to set a currency per donation service; the base currency is one for the whole application, chosen from a list of 14.
