A section is gone from the menu

Three reasons, and from the sidebar they look identical: the item is simply not there, and if it was the only one in its group, the group is gone too. The tiles vanish from the control panel the same way.

It was never installed

The usual one on a fresh install. Only part of strAImer comes with the app: bundles such as Voice Over and Auction and the Mascot are installed separately, from Module Catalog → Add-ons, and until then they have no menu item at all. The guide of each module opens with a line saying whether it comes with the app or where to install it from.

It is switched off

The common one once a module has been in use. Turn the module back on — see the "Module Catalog" guide, section "Turning a module on and off".

If its own page is open at that moment, a strip appears on it with a Where to turn it on button. The strip follows the switch straight away. Turn the module on and it is gone without you leaving the section and coming back; turn it off and it appears over the page that is already open, with whatever you had typed there left alone.

That covers the modules that switch themselves on, too. A module's page is allowed to start its own module, and the Kick page does exactly that before the sign-in: the strip goes the moment the module starts, not the next time you open the page.

It says the module is off and the module is working

An older app. Builds before 0.19.0 drew that strip only while the page was being opened, so anything that moved the switch afterwards left it hanging: a running module with a strip over it saying it was not running. Nothing was wrong with the module, and the switch in Module Catalog was telling the truth the whole time.

Updating the application is the fix. Until then, leaving the section and opening the page again draws the strip by the current state.

The settings are here and the module is not

Frequent right after settings are moved to another computer: a snapshot carries the list of modules and their settings, never the module files. Such a module has a record and nothing on disk, and the app keeps it switched off — which is why it hides exactly like the case above.

Two things tell them apart. In Module Catalog it is offered for installing instead of showing a switch. And its page, if it opens at all, says Module is not installed — "Its settings are here, but the module files are not. Install it in Module Catalog — the settings will be picked up."

Installing is the fix, not switching it on; the settings are already waiting and attach themselves. Doing it for the whole machine in one go is described in the "Backup" guide, section "Modules that were not installed".
