What this page is
Challenges is the running tally of what the carousel has handed you — "What the carousel has piled up: counters and countdowns". It lives at Carousel → Challenges. Cards that come up on the carousel land here by themselves, provided the card was given a Challenge counter on the Carousel page; a card without one just appears on the ribbon and is not counted.
How to set it up
- Open Carousel → Challenges. There is nothing to switch on: the list fills itself as cards come up. Before that it reads "Nothing yet. Cards that come up will show here."
- Add by hand puts in a line no card gave you. Fill Name, pick Type — Times, Minutes or Percent — set How much, and press Add. The hint says what happens next: "A name that already exists grows instead of making a second line."
- Merging goes by name *and* type. "Squats" as Times and "Squats" as Minutes stay two separate lines, on purpose.
- How the list behaves holds one switch: Keep finished challenges on screen — "A timer that ran out waits to be marked done. Turn this off and it leaves the overlay right away."
- Current list is the tally itself. Each row shows the name, the type under it, and the number on the right in a field you can type over.
- A Minutes row also has a play button (Start), which turns into Pause while it is running. Counters of Times and Percent have nothing to start — they are numbers, not clocks.
- Editing the number is done in the field, in the form it is shown: "5:30" for a countdown is five and a half minutes, "20%" for a percent is twenty. Press Enter or click away and it is stored.
- Mark done (the tick) takes the line off the list and files it under Done. The bin (Remove) deletes it without filing anything.
- Done below lists the last twenty of them with the time each was finished. Clear the history empties it, asking first.
- Clear the list in the page header empties the current list. It asks "Remove every challenge from the list?" and does not file anything under Done.
- There is no Save button. Every button and every edited number takes effect as you make it, and the overlay follows at once.
What a timer does when it runs out
The row does not vanish. It stays with the countdown at zero and the words time is up beside the type, waiting to be marked done — so you can tell a challenge you actually did from one that merely expired while you were busy.
A running countdown survives closing the application: what is stored is the moment it ends, not a number ticking down, so reopening the app shows the time that really remains. If a card of the same name comes up while the clock is running, its minutes are added to the end of the countdown rather than replacing what is left.
What it cannot do
- A timer never starts by itself. A card that arrives as Minutes waits on the list until you press play — the carousel hands you the minutes, not the decision to begin.
- Nothing here spends or refunds anything on the carousel. Removing a line, clearing the list or marking something done changes only this tally.
- Done is a record, not an undo. A line filed there cannot be put back on the list; add it again by hand if you need it.
- The list holds 100 lines at most. Once it is full a card with a new name is dropped rather than queued — a card whose name is already on the list still adds to it — so clear the list between streams.
- Percent stops at 100. Counters of Times and Minutes go far higher, but a percentage above a hundred is refused.
- There is no sound on this page and no per-challenge sound anywhere. The one sound there is — for a countdown reaching zero — belongs to the Challenge list overlay.
- Lines cannot be reordered, grouped, coloured or given a picture. They sit in the order they arrived.
- Nothing here writes to chat, awards anything or tells the viewers what happened; the list is shown to them only through the Challenge list overlay.
